Daughter, On Womenīs Equality Day I am Thinking of You With Love
y darling daughter
I am glad that
you were born in an age
when women are
aware of what is going on
and donīt always have
to fight so hard to be heard
The world is wide open
for you to be whatever you want
It will be hard
but at least you
will find other women
striving for the same thing
and you wonīt be called "crazy"
for wanting to achieve your goals
Though full equality
is not here yet
there certainly have been changes
that will make your life as a woman
not so stereotyped and confined
You are living in an age
where womanhood is
finally growing
to be everything
that it can be
My darling daughter
I have watched you play with
dolls and trucks
footballs and toads
and I picture you
my beautiful child
as a beautiful woman
in full control of her life
